How it all began...
I started my professional beauty career with spray tanning in 2013, right here in Cape Town, and quickly became known as one of the city’s go-to spray tan artists, working with local talent, celebrities, and of course, the beautiful brides who travelled from near and far to say “I do” in the breathtaking Cape Winelands.

From the beginning, I’ve been captivated by how something as simple as a sunless tan can completely transform how someone feels about themselves.
That instant confidence boost? That’s my favourite part, and why I often call spray tanning my superpower.

THEN I DID A BRAVE THING
Fast forward to the present...
​​​​​​​​I’m back in Cape Town with my Welsh Prince Charming by my side, and I’ve finally taken the leap to combine all the things I love: spray tans, bridal makeup, and a little sparkle of fairy godmother energy, into one beautiful business under my own name, JULIA B. REES.
Because honestly, there’s nothing more fulfilling than making women feel like the most radiant version of themselves.

FUN FACT: I dabbled in wedding planning too, so I know my way around a bridal timeline!

Even while working part-time in spray tanning, I always loved doing makeup, whether it was for friends or family, especially my sister (who grew up with me always doing her glam for school dances and special occasions!).
But for years, I didn’t have the courage to pursue bridal makeup along with spray tanning to turn it into a full-time career.

Life took me to the UK, where I found myself working in Operations in the Marketing & Events and Recruitment industries. Turns out I’m also a bit of a systems and finance nerd. I learned so much about running a business, implementing new processes and the importance of a solid customer experience journey, which was incredibly fulfilling.
But deep down, I craved more of the magic of helping someone feel their best on a special day.
